    The Browns have started their trek towards what many think is a playoff run in 2008. Show host Jim Giles gives his candid opinion on what he saw from the team in very limited duty in their 1st pre-season game against the Jets.

    Calls from fans in Tennesee, Florida and Georgia also opened the discussion up to the injuries to TE Marin Rucker and WR Braylon Edwards as well as what the team will do for depth at the CB position.

    It;s finally here, the 2008 NFL Pre-Season is set to kickoff when the Browns host the Jets tonight.

    Fans are excited to see exactly what the Browns new additions, namely Shaun Rogers, can do to help improve the team.

    Show host Jim Giles also has a very strong feeling that the Browns will be trading an offensive linemen if they can for a disgruntled cornerback, Eagles anyone?

    The Browns have been bitten by the injury bug. OLB Antwan Peek has undergone surgery on his knee that will keep him sidelined until at least the start of the season if not longer.

    The Browns now must look to journeymen Shantee Orr, David McMillan and rookie Alex Hall to fill the gap. Browns fans are hoping this injury is nothing more serius and the words :staph" and "infection" are never uttered when relating to Peek over the next few weeks.

    Show host Jim Giles also discussed the state of QB Brady Quinn and his less than stellar play in training camp. Jim Brown is suing SONY and EA Sports and much more on this edition of The Barking Lot.

    It's summertime and it's hot so it can mean only one thing, time for Training Camp! The Cleveland Browns kicked off thier 2008 Training Camp on Wednesday and with it playoff expectations.

    Fans were chanting Super Bowl and the national media, Peter King precisely, was on hand ot soak it all in. The Browns are an up and coming team that many are picking to win the AFC North. Show host Jim Giles has been beating that drum for months.

    Tonight Jim took calls and discussed the area of biggest concern to him, the teams #3 WR position. The #3 could become the #2 very quickly and Travis Wilson and Kevin Kasper aren't great options.

    The title of this entry is no mis-print, Thursday night Hall of Fame running back and Cleveland Browns legend, Jim Brown was live on The Barking Lot!

    Jim is the founder and CEO of the Amer-I-Can Foundation, which you can learn more about by going to his website at www.amer-i-can.org, and continues to be a prominent and influential figure in shaping the lives of young people today.

    Jim is also an advisor to the Browns today and spoke on a variety of topics. He talked about the Browns move in 1996, his role in the early years of the teams return to the league and how team owner Randy Lerner came to him and asked him to be a part of the franchise. He also spoke about the potential of the 2008 Cleveland Browns, head coach Romeo Crennel and yes the QB situarion as it stands today.

    It's the off-season, really?! Not on The Barking Lot and not for Browns fans! The Browns are struggling to figure out who their 4th and 5th cornerbacks will be this year and we heard from a contender Thursday night in rookie Mil'von James.

    James is an undrafted rookie free agent from UNLV that had to tryout for the Browns and impressed them enough that they offered him a contract. Now he has a legitimate chance of being the teams next Leigh Bodden.

    James also spoke about the atmosphere in the locker room and the expectations of the team. He also said that we will see an "attacking" style defense this year. Music to all Browns fans ears.

    It may be the off-season, but Browns fans are as passionate as ever! The QB issue or non-issue still won't go away. There are Brady Quinn supporters and there are Derek Anderson supporters and it doesn't look like it's changing soon.

    Sho host Jim Giles fielded calls from Georgia, Florida and Germany! Yes, T-Dub is back!

    Seems like the Chargers would love to get something for soon to be released WR Eric Parker and the Browns are coming up as a possible suitor. Why the Browns would give up anything for him was debated at length.

    The Browns three day mandatory mini-camp ended on Thursday and we were joined by current Cleveland Browns guard/center Seth McKinney.

    Seth was ery candid about his injured left shoulder, the QB position, the LeCharles Bentley saga and much more!

    Show host Jim Giles also vented and gave Browns fans some food for thought about the split between the Browns and Bentley.

    2008 Cleveland Browns OTA's are over, but a heavy price may have paid. Starting right guard Ryan Tuckers is out until at least August with a fractured hip. Possible starting corner back Daven Holly is lost for the season with a mangled knee and now starting wide receiver Braylon Edwards hasn't practiced since suffering a hip pointer in the Holly collision.

    Browns fans scattered far and wide across the United States chimed in tonight to share their thoughts on the current state of the Browns, relating to health.

    Fans also gave their opinions on the recent signing of veteran journeymen corner back Terry Cousins as well. some fans are still clamoring for a big name corner back, show host Jim Giles is not one of them.

    There was even talk again of possibly trading starting QB Derek Anderson again tonight! Go figure.

    The Browns seem to be in dire straits with the loss of CB Daven Holly, but Browns fans don't seem to think so. In fact Dan from Georgia said it best, if the Browns were counting on Daven Holly to win the Super Bowl this year then they weren't going to make it there any way.

    Super Bowl hopes have not faded for Browns fans and show host Jim Giles tells you why he thinks the defensive scheme and coaching is even more important perhaps then the players themselves.

    The 2008 Organized Team Activities are now underway for the Cleveland Browns as the team begins preperation for what many think could be a playoff run and a deep one at that.

    Browns G.M. Phil Savage has not ruled out the possiblity of adding another cornerback to the teams depleted unit by either free agent acquisition or trade. He spoke of theteam having "excess" at a position Thursday for a potentail trade, but did not say what that position was. Show host Jim Giles, along with several callers, speculated on what those positions could be.

    New additons DE Corey Williams and DT Shaun Rogers have already spoken publicly about the change from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 and that it will take time. Will Browns fans give them time and show patience or was the price the team paid too high to afford them that luxury?

    The Browns may have given up all their day 1 draft picks in this years draft, but they more and made up for it with all the manuvering they did on day 2. The Browns went into day 2 with 4 picks and walked out with 5 players.

    G.M. Phil Savage gave up 3rd and 5th round picks in the 2009 NFL Draft though to take TE Martin Rucker from Missouri and WR Paul Hubbard from Wisconsin. Many Browns fans can see the logic in taking Rucker, but Hubbard was a reach in the eyes of many Browns fans.

    Show host Jim Giles thinks it's time for Phil Savage to stop wasting his 6th and 7th round picks on guys he sees as "projects". With the Browns trading away their early round draft picks and striking out with their late ones the future of the Browns may be in peril.

    The NFL Draft is right around the corner and though the Cleveland Browns have no first day picks, Browns fans are still excited to see just who the Browns will take with their 4 picks this year.

    Calls from Ohio, Florida and Georgia tonight as Browns fans far and wide find themselves adjusting their draft day plans.

    Show host Jim Giles feels the Browns could do no better than Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams with their first 3 picks this year and is confident that Phil Savage made the right choices this year and last.

    Who said there was nothing to talk about in April regarding the Cleveland Browns? The NFL released the 2008 NFL schedule this week and that was more than enough to fill the show.

    Callers shared their thoughts with host Jim Giles on the Browns upcoming 2008 schedule and gave their best guess as to how many games the Browns would win. 10-13 wins seems to be what Browns fans think the Browns can amass in 2008.

    Jim also cracks on the NFL for doing the schedule in what he considers a "vacuum". So much of hte game is subjective, but the schedule is not?

    It may be the off-season, but it has not stopped the NFL from rolling up their sleeves and going after DawgBones.com and fan sites all over.

    Show host Jim Giles aired his feelings on the NFL and the way they are treating fans all over the place. The same fans who continue to make the NFL America's most popular sport.

    Jim and his callers also talked about some breaking news, WR Joe Jurevicius, after knee surgery in January, has been bettling staph infection. At last count the Browns have had at least 5 players that have delat with staph infection in the past 4 years.
